Notes from the field:

This week's bag shows the change in season, "out with the old and in with the new," as they say.  We are giving the last harvest of our first seedlings of sugar snap peas (edible pod!) with creamy, waxy and young Rose Gold potatoes.  The cucumbers are really coming in, as your bag reflects.  Try "fresh pickles", one of our favorites here at the farm.  Chop cucumbers and place into a jar.  Add chopped dill, 1/3 vinegar, 2/3 water, and salt to taste.  Allow the cucumbers  to marinate for a day in refrigeration and you'll have a refreshing treat.

Slate's restaurant makes a delicious Thai Cabbage salad with cabbage and scallions. Iuse ginger, garlic scapes, shredded carrot and cilantro with a rice vinegar/sesame oil dressing. Supper cabbage is great for your family's cole slaw recipe or to use as a cooking base in place of onion or celery.

The new potatoes will hold their own whether grilled, boiled, or sauted.
