Notes from the Field
Food this time of year rings with sweetness...
The carrots are a variety called Nectar, a new storage variety that we are trying in compliment to our usual Bolero...
I have been finding delight in baking them whole. I wrap them in tinfoil for a little steam convection - the flavors concentrate and become a delicious snack.
You bags hold cleriac, garlic, and Purple Viking, an all-purpose potato. We had trouble curing the garlic so it hasn't been storing well - hence why some bulbs are so small, and some cloves are broken off of the bulb. This month you receive storage radishes to kick and cleanse colds - when eaten raw the have a strong bite - roasting or putting in a soup temper the flavor.
