Notes from the Field

What happens on the stretch of road on a Monday Harvest Day at Dig Deep??

It's 6:11 am and one arrives.  A gold truck, and oversized cap, harvest bins and knives in the back.

A young woman emerges, she holds a notebook.  She was there yesterday, Sunday, moving steadily task to task.

Setting the notebook down, container and knife now in hand, she is pulled to the fresh celery.  Without hesitation from celery to swiss chard and bunched beets her lack of question guides her confidently . . . . . we are swing into our abundance: it's August.

What's in the bag

  • Cabbage
  • Celery
  • Carrots
  • Fennel
  • Purple & white onions
  • Green & purple peppers
  • Summer squash
  • Zucchini
  • Cucumber (Pickling and slicer)
  • Beans
  • Tomato

More people arrive - Zoe, David, Jessy in the afternoon . . . .

Friends honk as they pass by . . . the usual visitors stop to say hello . . . meanwhile we keep movin' . . . the days are full!

What's Coming? Tomatoes (maybe cherry), beets

From all of us . . . .  Dig Deep
