Notes from the field:

Life is good.

We are in the peak season where late summer and early fall conditions overlap - hence the delicata winter squash and abundance of tomatoes.  The delicata will keep for a while - it can be baked or steamed - it is sweet!  Delicious! And the skin is edible.  

What's in the Bag?

  • Mesclun
  • 2 leeks
  • 1 basil
  • 1 Delicata winter squash
  • 1 summer squash
  • 1 watermelon
  • 1 slicing cuke
  • 1 # beans
  • 1 quart tomatoes
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes

I feel like pairing any of the tomatoes with basil might hit home with anyone.  We've been spraying an organically approved fungicide (that is the light blue tinge on the tomatoes) to avoid the plant life dying back to soon . . . please gently wash your tomatoes before eating.

Enjoy the other fine flavors of summer - cucumber and summer squash, perhaps sauted with some mixed green and yellow beanssssss . . . who knew life could be soooo good and generous.
